Hernan Bas, LES and Brooklyn.
So this weekend I saw the Hernan Bas show at Lehmann Maupin on Saturday, and then hit his other show at the Brooklyn Museum on Sunday.
I would recommend both shows. Not to say either way on If I liked the work or not, but things I noticed was his awesome choice of color and brushstroke. The paintings also have a dreamy, childlike fantasy that was very wonderful. I was surprised to see almost all of the Brooklyn show was owned by one family and also to see the artist signed all the work on the front of each canvas. Below are two works I liked plus a few images from the contemporary section I really enjoyed.

Other MFA shows around Town
In addition to OUR great thesis exhibitions, anyone want to check at Columbia's MFA Thesis show curated by Regine Basha next week? The show is at the Fisher Landau Center for Art in LIC opening May 3rd. Maybe afterwards a pitcher of Czech beer at the Beer Garden...
